Lamps expansion board
Addition of controlled lamps
Extension required to have
two additional lamps
Prototype
This board was originally developed for CAVEMAN. Indeed, we needed to add two additional lights to this pinball machine. But unfortunately no lamp output was available, nothing was left. The totality of the 48 outputs being used, we had to find a solution to control two more lamps.
On the SYSTEM 80A, solenoids 3, 4 and 7 are no longer used (the electromechanical counters are no longer installed).
It was therefore possible to reuse these temporary outputs, provided that a storage function was added. This is the role of this board which is simply plugged into the A3J6 connector of the driver.
The development of the prototype made it possible to highlight a bug of the SYSTEM 80A, at the level of the piloting of the solenoids. In fact, it sometimes happens that spurious pulses are generated untimely by this system. We have therefore developed a patch to SYSTEM 80A to remedy this problem.
Board finalized
With the prototype working perfectly, the final map could be produced. A professional grade PCB has been designed and screw connectors have been added to make the board removable.
Uses
Although initially developed for CAVEMAN, this expansion board can be used for other SYSTEM 80A. We also used it on our BLACK HOLE, where the number of lamps available was insufficient.
